Solenoid valve is a valve that is controlled by electric current both AC and DC through coil / selenoida.

The solenoid valve is the most commonly used control element in the fluid system. As in pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems or on machine control systems that require automatic control elements. For example, in a pneumatic system, solenoid valve is responsible for controlling the pressurized air duct to a pneumatic actuator (cylinder). Or at a water reservoir that requires a solenoid valve as a water filling controller, so that the tank is not empty

Solenoid valves for saturated steam and hot water are specifically designed to cope with the aggressive nature and temperature of hot steam. Steam being fundamentally water it is not surprising that many solenoid valves designed for use with steam are made from either brass or bronze.

Steam solenoid valves are typically normally closed (power to open) so the fail-safe position is closed, there are options for normally open (power to close) fail-safe open but really it is wise to avoid these for health and safety reasons as without power supply the valve will stay open.

Steam solenoid valves are available in a range of materials including Brass, Bronze, Stainless Steel and Cast Iron which can be used depending on the application and environment.
